FOREST AKERS SCHOLARSHIP
In 2019 Detroit Golf Club Caddie Scholarship Foundation took over
administration of the Forest H. Akers Scholarship at Michigan State
University under the oversight of the Board of Directors of Detroit
Golf Club. This Scholarship was established by former Detroit
Golf Club member Forest H. Akers in 1957. One scholarship will be
awarded annually for a Detroit Golf Club caddie or a son or daughter
of a full time employee of Detroit Golf Club. The Forest H. Akers
Scholarship covers the cost of full tuition, room rent, books and
laboratory fees at Michigan State University. The Scholarship will be
for a term of four years at Michigan State University provided the
scholar regularly and diligently pursues his or her course of studies
and maintains a scholastic rating and standing satisfactory to Michigan
State University.
This is a tremendous opportunity for Detroit Golf Club caddies and
the sons and daughters of full time employees of the Club. This is
another way in which Detroit Golf Club Caddie Scholarship Foundation
and Detroit Golf Club are helping our caddies and the sons and
daughters of full time employees to achieve their higher educational
dreams.
